Saskia Laroodiscography

In 1994 Saskia founded her own record label: Laroo Records.

The debut album from Dutch female trumpet master combines the hippest elements of jazz & acid jazz with beefy, bottom heavy hip hop breakbeats, trancy house grooves, latin flavors, R&B & the rapping talents of Poetic Voice, Mac Maestro & QF Da Funkee P - flute (Ronald Snijders), sax (Hans Dulfer & Benjamin Herman), keys (Rob Gaasterland, also co production, recording& editing) & vocals (Johnny Kelvin) round out the mix.

The second album from Dutch female trumpet virtuoso continues her amazing funky streak, combining hip jazz/acid jazz with dance music styles such as drum ‘n bass, speed garage & big beat on all original cuts (except one tribute to Miles Davis) - she uses acoustic instruments in a unique way, soaking them with hip hop beats & booty shakin’ dance grooves. Guest appearances by a.o. Rosa King (vocals) and Candy Dulfer (sax).

Dutch female trumpet phenom Saskia Laroo presents a straight-ahead acoustic jazz album of standards & originals in the Miles Davis mode - she mostly plays a muted trumpet while the heavy grooving rhythm section lays down a sweet & steady foundation for Saskia’s slithery solos. Line up: Albert Sarko - piano, Jos Machtel - acoustic bass, Martin van Duynhoven - drums.
