In The Netherlands and Belgium Vika Kova is known as MC and vocalist. Performing at the hottest events with worlds best DJs Vika developed a sophisticated taste in dance music and understanding of a global clubbing phenomena. Getting promo’s from DJ’s she found herself creating an interesting record collection. Wanting to add to her stage presence the ever inventive Vika learned herself to spin behind the turntables.
‘Who said a MC can’t mix’? - says Vika. ‘In the early days the DJ was a MC! They used to fill in the gaps between the talking with their music. So, a playing-records-MC is like taking DJ-ing to its roots. Working with the great DJ’s places you right in the middle of the most creative happening. It’s a precious experience, but besides that, I graduated Music School and after that the Music Conservatory back in Russia. So I chose music to be my life and still hold true to that choice’.
Vika Kova is still busy touring as a MC-vocalist, but now she always takes her headphones and record collection with her. In Amsterdam spins and vocalizes on the best underground parties and on corporate gigs like Bacardi, or fashion presentations like for Rodrigo Otazu’s new collections and at her home residency ‘the legendary Supperclub’. But outside her home town her DJ gig schedule is growing and she travels from clubs like Metropolis (Paris) to Louise Gallery (Brussels) and from Offcorso (Rotterdam) to even parties in Jakarta, Indonesia. Playing Ibiza sound on beach events, deeper sexy eletro-house sound with a minimal twist in intimate clubs to down tempo lounge or jazzy sets at corporate events. Putting her vocals on top while spinning. Hell Yeah!
Now Vika Kova also started producing, her musical career will be floating on a wilder river. With featured vocals on the new Junior Caldera single and album (Polydor/Interscope, France) and her first release Peace In The Middle East to be excpected before summer of 2008.
