Sven van HeesDJ // BE // House, Lounge

Sven van Hees kickstarted his career on local radio at the age of fifteen, playing jazz-funk and soul music. Due to the strong outlet of Belgium’s first Dance radioshow “Liaisons Dangereuses”, which was produced by Sven, he was offered a record deal. He released “He Chilled Out” in 1989, which became a clubhit worldwide.

Together with Dutch DJ Remy, Van Hees succesfully ran the Global Cuts label for R&S until 1996. His final recording for Global Cuts, “Tabla Rasa”, got picked up by Compost in 1996 and was featured on “The future sound of Jazz vol 2″.

That year marked a shift in styles from his productions. Techno & Tribal, his trademark sound, got replaced for Downtempo & Jazzy Grooves and Van Hees sold over hundred thousand albums those next few years including Gemini (1999), Calypso (2002), Synesthesia (2005) and Exotica (2007).
