Interview MasonLIVE

Back to News

Just back from deejaying at Privilege in Brazil, this week heading for Bulgaria, in February introducing the new LIVE show at club AIR in Amsterdam and at the infamous SXSW festival in Texas in March. Mason is on the roll for 2012! Read more further below.

It all took off at their album release party in Amsterdam early 2011 when they introduced their new LIVE show. Not much later they toured Brazil and played festivals like Nature One (Germany), Loveland (Netherlands) and clubs like Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Volksgarten (Austria) and the best clubs in The Netherlands like Paradiso, Tivoli, Effenaar, Paard and more. In 2012 Australia, Asia and USA will be toured as also many countries in Europe including UK.

Mason performs using synths, controllers, laptops and effects, as well as a random selection of live electronic instruments from their purpose built and easily assembled console, the 'Baboon Booth'. In keeping with Mason's label animal themes, the guys play behind the illuminated ape head which contains programable lighting. Visuals will be bespoke creations projected onto twin screens and totally co-ordniated with the music and light.

The boys bring out a violin, a clarinet and even a kazoo at points in the set. Not that you’d recognise the sounds of the original instruments as they are played and sampled live.

The Mason set is utilising an unique and brilliant piece of technology developped by deepRED.tv that allows them to totally control the in-house lighting and projected visuals on the fly and not on a start to finish timecode as many electronic artists use. Each show will be planned in advance specifically for each venue's lighting rig and visual set-up. Each beat of the set will have its own specific inhouse lighting and visual trigger which can be manipulated live as the act manipulate their tracks. Therefore no two sets will ever be the same.
