MC workshop Vika Kova: AmsterdamDanceEvent
Vika Kova is a Dutch MC-vocalist with Russian-Ukrainian roots. She has come a long musical way before she broke through in the dance-scene of Amsterdam. Born in Vladivostok, she went to the piano school, ballet and folks dance, wrote songs, graduated Conservatoire and won the National Song Contest with her own compositions and went to on tour for two years through the formal Soviet Union. Despite the fact that she had great opportunities for further career developments in Russia, her attraction to the European House-sound made her to move to Amsterdam.
Started only 6 years ago as a MC-vocalist she developed her own recognisable so-called “POP improvisation” style. She sings in English (mostly self written lyrics) and hosts the party’s of following styles - from house to electro, from techno to trance, progressive and film-music. Although Vika’s work is based on improvisation she likes to be prepared: “Figurative speaking, I “knead dough” at home and “bake a pie” with any filling you like in front of a public”. Vika’s passion for fashion is also an important factor of her performance.
All her experiences as being an MC-vocalist has been put into her Mc workshops which she gives all over the world. This year she will present her workshop at The Amsterdam Dance Event, explaining to the next generation of the dance industry who to become a professional MC-vocalist.
